Where your deposit can come from

Most first home buyers combine more than one of these. We'll help you work out what applies to you.

KiwiSaver

After three years in KiwiSaver, you may be able to withdraw most of your balance to buy your first home. We'll explain how and when to apply.

First Home Loan

A government-backed scheme through Kāinga Ora that can let eligible buyers purchase with a 5% deposit. Income and price limits apply.

Help from family

A gift or a family guarantee can help you buy sooner. We'll explain what lenders need and the risks for everyone involved.

Less than 20% deposit? Lenders have fewer low-deposit loans available, but there are often still options. We know which lenders to approach.
